Farm Shops
Farm shops have been one of the success stories of the
last ten years. Whilst most sell the typical fruit and vegetables
often grown on the farm, horticultural nurseries and butcheries
can all be classified as farm shops.
In planning terms however, they can be complicated. If
produce is grown on the holding and sold unprocessed then
the ‘shop’ could be an agricultural building
with few restrictions. When more than an insignificant amount
of imported produce is sold, planning permission will be
required. Animals slaughtered off the holding and returned
are considered imported.
Acorus have dealt with a range of farm shop proposals and
conversions including proposals on green field sites, designing
buildings, obtaining planning permission and overseeing
construction.
