Building Regulations
The term “Building Regulations” often refers
to the preparation of construction plans to show compliance
with the regulations (Building Regulations 2000) and is
just one stage of many in the development of a building
project from inception to completion.
In its simplest form, building regulations consent can
be obtained with the compilation of large scale floor plans
and typical sections together with an accompanying specification,
usually in the form of construction notes on the drawings.
These will state the depth of foundations, amount of insulation,
type of heating system, size of floor joists etc.
The Approved Documents are often used by designers for
the purpose of providing practical guidance with respect
to the Building Regulations 2000. These are split into various
parts which include; Structure, Fire Safety, Ventilation,
Electrical Safety, Access to and use of the building etc.
