From Derelict Barn to Unique Dwelling

Acorus obtained planning permission for a 5 bedroom detached barn conversion for the owner of a derelict barn and outbuildings in an area of great historic importance. At the time the client contacted Acorus, his business had ceased and he was left with a derelict barn in poor repair.

There were various restraints in place including a highways issue which Acorus managed to successfully have lifted in less than 18 months. Acorus was able to prove there was no longer a demand for the buildings to be used in a business/agricultural capacity and planning permission for a residential dwelling was granted.

When the owner decided to subsequently sell, Acorus was able to market the property at a substantially higher guide price than was previously given.

The new owner of the property wanted to proceed with the conversion plans. Aware of Acorus’ previous successful involvement, they enlisted us to undertake the work utilising our indepth knowledge of the property.
