Rare Breeds to Attract New Visitors
(RARE BREEDS PARK AND WALLED GARDEN)
Acorus have worked closely with the HM Prison Service on
a number of projects including the planning and design of
new buildings and refurbishment and appraisal of old buildings
on prison farms.
Whilst working on modernisation plans for Hewell Grange
Open Prison in Worcestershire, Acorus also worked with the
prison service on their plans for a rare breeds park at
Hewell Grange. The facility was to include fenced areas
to show the rare breed pigs and cattle, create a new stable
block, butchery, farm shop and conference facility.
With Acorus’ knowledge and in depth planning expertise,
the submitted plans were approved. The Local Planning Authority
was receptive to the planned facility which would retain
an existing walled garden, provide a local attraction to
the community and that the work would be carried out using
prison labour.
