Broiler Unit Gets Go-Ahead

Full planning permission was successfully obtained for the expansion of a poultry unit on a farm in Lincolnshire.  The application was subject to an Environmental Impact Assessment collated by Acorus.

Despite the proposed development being in an area of open rural countryside, a landscaping scheme was proposed to  lessen the impact of the new buildings on the surrounding countryside.

Ecology was another main concern but an independent survey showed that nearby ponds were not populated by protected Great Crested Newts.  The impact of the development upon amenities was another issue and these points were successfully addressed in the Environmental Statement.

Finally, as the proposed development site was found to be in an area of extremely high archaeological interest, the application included an assurance that the owners would undertake site recordings to ensure no significant harm would be caused to archaeological remains.
