Award Winning Farm Shop

Nigel Belton and James Whilding of Acorus have been actively involved in providing planning consultancy to the Mounce Family. This has entailed the provision of horticultural buildings, the change of use to a Pick Your Own shop and tea room and a change of use of part to a farm restaurant. Further work has included the regularisation and expansion of produce sold to avoid potential enforcement, expansion to the farm shop area and 100 cover restaurant, associated regulations submissions and the provision of seasonal on-farm accommodation.

Lifton Strawberry Fields Farm Shop has now celebrated its 5th anniversary following the opening of the shop in 2002. Having now opened their 100 cover restaurant, the venture has recently been awarded for its efforts with not just one but two prestigious national FARMA awards; the Own and Local Farm Shop of the Year, rewarding own and local produce and Best On-Farm Bakery.

Being the Year of Food and Farming in Education, there are plans to hopefully promote greater learning and understanding of food production to all ages. Jo Mounce says ‘There is no way we would be as successful as we are now without all the help and support of the Acorus team.’
