Retail Nursery in Green Belt

When our client from Surrey contacted us he had just bought a small retail nursery primarily to grow trees for his landscaping business.

By chance a wholesaler called and was able to supply mixed plants at a competitive price allowing the nursery to open for retail sales on Saturdays and Sundays.

Unfortunately the plants were imported and not grown on the holding; such a use required planning permission. Acorus prepared the planning appraisal showing how importing plants as well as growing them was necessary for the business. The application showed an enlarged car parking area and despite some green belt policy issues planning permission was achieved.
