Acorus Bury St Edmunds office has been working with clients Becca and Hugo Nicolle at Chippenham Park Events over the past 5 years, sorting the planning issues for their wedding venue.
We initially gained planning permission for the temporary change of use of land for the siting of a marquee and car parking to hold wedding receptions. Potential impacts including noise, access and landscaping were all addressed. Weddings mainly take place from 1 March to 31 October and the first permission granted this until October 2014.
The park includes Chippenham Hall which is a red brick Grade ll Listed building from the late 19th century located to the north of the estate with additional out buildings and residential properties surrounding the hall.
The grounds have been in the Nicolle family for over 250 years with Becca and Hugo moving in four years ago.
Chippenham Park was, and still is available to the public for open days, music events as well as for the use of the local village. The extension of public use to provide a high quality wedding service would compliment existing uses.
Since receiving the original permission the venue has successfully established the business. Being on a picturesque estate it quickly became a popular choice for weddings and now employs several staff. It is now one of the most popular venues in the area.
Approval was granted in 2013 to extend the permission to 25 October 2015 and this has again been extended to October 2016. This has allowed the business to make bookings for up to 2 years in advance of their customer’s big day.
